About
Christopher Bird is currently based in Ozark, Missouri. His work is contoured by a life lived in several cities, including Los Angeles, San Francisco, Bangkok, and Lisbon, carrying traces of memory, movement, solitude, and observation.
Bird creates paintings that are less concerned with exact representation than emotional atmosphere.
Texture, shadow, and restraint play a central role in his process, with influences ranging from street life and travel to aging objects and the shifting moods of everyday life.
His work often explores themes of identity, impermanence, and what he describes as "the fear of losing the thread," the fragile connection between memory, purpose, and creative life.
In addition to painting, Bird continues to photograph and write, treating each medium as part of the same ongoing conversation.
